HOUDINI | REDSHIFT
SMALL SCALE FLIP STUDIES

This is a series of short animations produced in October 2022, between two paid projects. The aim of the project, ironically called the "Fliptober challenge", was to introduce me to fluid simulations in Houdini, covering the entire production pipeline, so that I could add this very special field to my areas of expertise.
Since then, I've had the opportunity to produce some much more accomplished sequences, and I can't help noticing certain flaws in certain aspects (notably remeshing), but I found some of the renderings rather elegant and felt they had a place in my portfolio. I hope you'll appreciate ^^

At the time, I didn't know it was possible to retime a simulation including particle reseeding. Consequently, all the simulations shown are based on a low number of particles emitted, and the challenge was to find the right balance between particle count, particle separation and surface tension values to preserve the formation of tendrils and holes in the fluid surface.

A "Fliptober challenge" without a blood simulation for Halloween doesn't deserve its name!

Thank you for watching.
